Pamu Fit Review Open ANC Earbuds

Monday, May 22, 2023

Get ready to cut the cords, groove to the beats and feel the rhythm ignite, the Pamu Fit are a sensory delight! The Pamu Fit, the latest addition to the esteemed Padmate lineup, brings a refreshing change with its innovative open earbud design, setting it apart from its predecessors.

Pamu Fit's open earbud design offers a distinct departure from the conventional closed-in style. This design choice allows for a more natural and immersive audio experience, enabling you to stay connected to your surroundings while enjoying your favorite music. With a comfortable fit on the outer canal, the Pamu Fit offers extended wear without discomfort or ear fatigue.

The Pamu Fit have a style reminiscent to the Pamu Nano but without ear tips. Instead, Pamu Fit utilizes a built-in rubberized body that also acts as a wing tip, providing a more secure fit. The Pamu Fit earbuds offer touch controls with five different gestures, allowing control over seven functions including play/pause, calls (answer/end), volume adjustment, ANC, and game mode.

It's worth noting that there is no mobile app support available for the Pamu Fit, which means you cannot customize the touch controls or access additional features like EQ settings or firmware updates. Mobile app support is a common feature in many earbuds, offering users more customization options and access to additional functionalities.

The Pamu Fit charging case is compact and small, resembling the size of a packet of tic tacs. The lid is transparent plastic and securely held in place by two sturdy plastic hinges, eliminating any wobbling. The bottom half of the case is made of glossy opaque plastic.

Removing the earbuds from the case is effortless. While the Pamu Fit case may feel somewhat plasticky and lacking in durability, the earbuds themselves present a contrasting experience. The earbuds boast a premium and durable feel, thanks to their rubberized body. The faceplate of the earbuds is constructed from plastic and features touch-sensitive controls that are highly responsive, requiring only a gentle touch rather than tapping.

The Pamu Fit case has a weight of 24 grams (excluding the earbuds) and dimensions of 6cm in length, 4cm in width, and 2cm in thickness. Each individual earbud weighs 5.5 grams. Both the earbuds and the case are equipped with LED lights to indicate the battery status. To establish a connection with the Pamu Fit, the earbuds need to be removed from the case. When switching between earbuds for mono listening, there is a brief 3-second delay for reconnection. The earbuds also feature clear and loud voice prompts.

The audio performance of the Pamu Fit is pretty good. With its 13mm single drivers, these earbuds produce ample volume and deliver clear and natural deep bass, setting them apart from traditional in-ear earbuds. It's worth noting that the bass response may vary depending on the fit, as the unique shape of the earbuds might not be suitable for all ear types. Vocals and instruments are rendered with richness and clarity, and the treble is well-balanced without causing listener fatigue.

The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) performance is lacking - most certainly due to the open ear design - the ANC is nowhere as good as the Pamu Quiet Mini and Pamu Z1 ANC earbuds. In terms of battery performance, when the ANC is enabled, the Pamu Fit earbuds offer approximately 4.5 hours of playback time at 50% volume and 4 hours at 100% volume. With ANC turned off, the earbuds can provide up to 6 hours of playback. The charging case has a capacity to provide an additional 22 hours of charge. The earbuds take approximately 2 hours to fully charge.
