Cleer's new Scene bluetooth speaker - rugged stylish looks, loud and
ready to perform at the drop of a hat, no matter what life throws at it!
Scene is driven by twin 48mm full range dynamic drivers and side mounted passive radiators (4cm in diameter) which give the speaker extra bass oomph.
Scene features
a large front-facing battery indicator led bar to easy tell when the
battery is low. The Scene speaker is wrapped with rugged fabric and a
plastic "Cleer" logo
glued onto it. The Cleer Scene speaker enclosure sits on top of a
thick rubber base pad designed to keep the speaker
elevated and anchored on a desk, while dampening any unwanted resonance.
On
the rear side of the Cleer Scene speaker, there is a rubber faceplate housing two rubberized physical buttons sand a thick rubber
cover, concealing the USB-C charging port and 3.5mm aux audio port. The
rubber cover has a swiveling hinge, which allows you to move the rubber
cover out of the way when charging without the charging cable bending the rubber cover backwards
at an awkward angle.
A swiveling hinged cover is important because bending the rubber cover eventually
makes it wonky overtime, preventing it from sealing the port properly. The rear buttons have a
hard press dome membrane actuation that prevents accidentally turning on the speaker whilst in a backpack.
On top of the Cleer Scene speaker,
there are 4 plastic buttons (clicky and tactile) for
controlling play/pause, track skipping, volume and calls (answer/end). The
bluetooth 5.0 chip supports SBC and AAC codecs. Scene doesn't support
multipoint and no absolute volume, which means you cannot control the
volume of the speaker when connected to an audio source (e.g.
smartphone). When reaching max volume, you will hear a beep.
When
connected via audio cable, the Cleer Scene speaker is able to keep
the bluetooth connection active, which makes the transition from wired
to bluetooth (and viceversa) more convenient. The Cleer Scene
speaker supports passthrough audio whilst charging, which means you can
power the speaker via an external powerbank while listening to audio in
bluetooth or wired mode.
As far as audio performance, you get the
best sound performance from audio cable connection. Not only the audio
resolution is
higher, the volume output and bass is noticeably bigger than in
bluetooth mode.
The internal 2600mAh rechargeable battery takes 3 hours
to charge (no quick charge support) and provides up
to 12 hours at 75% volume and 6 hours at 100% volume. There is no
charge-out from the USB-C port; hence the Scene speaker cannot be used
as a powerbank.Dimensions of Scene are 21cm long x 8.5cm deep x 7.5cm high. The weight is 740 grams
