The Fusion Weaving/ MagEZ Case 3 phone cases are super lightweight,
weighing just 19 grams. They are made of TPU and 1500D aramid fibre
(similar to Kevlar) blend which gives
the cases a rubbery twill textured finish.
Aramid fibre is used in body armor applications due to being abrasion
(scratch) resistant, heat resistant (has no melting point) and impact
resistant. The aramid fiber construction is an attractive selling point
for the PITAKA
MagEZ Case 3 phone cases, especially for an expensive phone such
as the iPhone 14, which along the iPhone 14 Pro are the cheaper 6.1
inch versions.
The more expensive iPhone 14 versions are the iPhone 14 Plus and
iPhone 14 Pro Max - both 6.7 inches in size. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is
nearly impossible to get now with waiting times extended to next month
November. If you plan to buy the iPhone 14 Plus, you should probably do
it sooner rather than later because Apple has cut down production
according to reports.
The Fusion Weaving/ MagEZ Case 3 phone cases are equipped with a rear raised
lip to protect the rear cameras. The only drawback with the raised lip is that it makes the case rock on a desk. The MagEZ phone case
does not have matching cutouts for the speakers, charging port and side
buttons and mute toggle switch. Instead, it has large open cutouts.
Potential deal breakers
- Cases do not have a flat back due to the raised camera bezel
- So thin and lightweight may put off some buyers
- No UV resistance coating. This is important because aramid fiber has low resistance against ultraviolet light and will change color when exposed to the sun
- No button protection
- Looks like a generic phone case not purposely designed for the iPhone 14 due to the large open cutouts and included stickers for fitment.
- Makes a plasticky noise (watch video)
- No anchor points for lanyard
- No reinforced corners
