Chargeasap Flash Pro Plus Review MagSafe Qi Compatible PPS Powerbank

Monday, March 21, 2022

Reduce charging clutter without losing performance with Chargeasap's new portable powerhouse! The Flash Pro Plus 6-in-1 charging solution with three USB-C PD 3.0 ports and one USB-A (output only) port with 50 watts power delivery specifically designed for OPPO SuperVOOC charging, OnePlus Warp Charge, Vivo FlashCharge, Apple FastCharge and HUAWEI SuperCharge.

The USB-C port on the far left side supports 100 watts PPS power delivery, as well as input capability for charging the Flash Pro Plus. The other two USB-C ports are output only and support 20 watts PPS power delivery and 60 watts power delivery respectively. On top of the Flash Pro Plus, there are two wireless charging pad rings.

The largest wireless charging ring (5cm diameter) has a magnetic backing and, it is Apple MagSafe compatible (up t 15 watts) and Android Qi charging compatible (up to 7.5W watts). You can wirelessly charge a MagSafe iPhone (e.g. iPhone 12 Pro) while staying magnetically connected to the Flash Pro Plus. You can also wirelessly charge older iPhone models (e.g.iPhone 8 or later), as well as an AirPods wireless charging case in about 75 minutes (60 minutes via the USB-A port). The Flash Pro Plus smaller wireless charging ring (2.5cm) is also magnetic and has a maximum power delivery of 5 watts. It is designed for an Apple Watch only so, it does not support any other smart watches including Samsung Watch.

While most powerbanks use lipo (lithium-polymer) or li-ion (lythium ion) batteries, the Flash Pro Plus uses Panasonic's new 21700 Tesla battery technology (graphene blend lithium polymer), which has a  higher charge/discharge rate and higher lifespan than the standard Panasonic 21700 li-ion batteries available on the market.

The Panasonic Tesla batteries do not lose performance or storage capacity until after 2000 charge/discharge cycles. Other benefits of graphene-infused li-ion batteries is better heat handling (less likely to explode), making the Flash Pro Plus safer than a standard lithium ion power bank. Speaking of safety, the Flash Pro Plus also integrates various protections to prevent overcharging, overvoltage, overcurrent and short circuit.

The higher density of the Tesla Panasonic graphene batteries provides another distinctive benefit and that is a higher power distribution, which allows the Flash Pro Plus to be able to output full power via the three USB-C ports (100W, 20W and 60W) when charging three devices at the same time. When charging four or more devices at the same time, the 100 watt USB-C port gets capped to 60 watts. The included user guide shows a detailed power distribution breakdown.

The Flash Pro Plus weighs 585 grams and measures 16cm long, 8.5cm wide and 3cm thick. It has a metal enclosure made of anodized 7075 aluminum alloy, which is durable and acts as a heatsink helping to dissipate heat quickly. The enclosure integrates a 1.3 inch oled screen display (3.5cm x 2.5cm), which shows real time battery percentage remaining, power output per port (in Watts and Amps) and charge temperature.

The oled display cannot be turned off manually. It has been programmed to turn off automatically after 25 seconds when there is no load (no devices connected). When there is load, the oled display automatically turns off after 5 minutes. There is one physical clicky button (side facing) for activating wireless charging.

When using a 100 watt power adapter (not included), Flash Pro Plus recharges from 0% to 100% in 70 minutes and to 80% in just 45 minutes. Flash Pro Plus also supports pass-through charging, so you can recharge the powerbank whilst charging devices. Like all powerbanks, the Flash Pro Plus experiences conversion loss (~20%), which means the real storage capacity (18,500 mAh) will be lower than the advertised storage capacity (25,000 mAh).

Flash Pro Plus has intelligent circuitry too, which can detect low power devices (e.g. headphones) and adjust the output voltage accordingly. Flashs Pro Plus has been approved by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) so, you can carry Flash Pro Plus with you on-board a plane. Flash Pro Plus also comes with third-party testing certification (FC, CE, ROHS, MSDS).

There is a snazzy hardshell zippered case included to store and safely transport Flash Pro Plus. The hardshell case has been engraved with Chargeasap raised lettering and has a glossy (water resistant) outershell with a carbon fiber finish. The zipper is made of fabric so, it's not water resistant and has a metal slider which opens up the case clamshell style.

The hardshell is internally lined with soft fabric material and integrates a tall elastic mesh pocket, as well as an elastic webbing strap to secure Flash Pro Plus in place and prevent it from shifting inside the case. Flash Pro Plus does not include an 100 watt cable accessory or 100 watt power adapter, which are needed to achieve the advertised charging times. To benefit from SuperVOOC charging, OnePlus Warp Charge, Vivo FlashCharge, Apple FastCharge and HUAWEI SuperCharge, you will need the respective cables from the manufacturers. You can buy the Flash Pro Plus directly from Chargeasap. Check out the review of Connect Pro and Chargeasap's Infinity charging cable.
