Brainwavz Delta Aluminum Canal Earphones

Thursday, December 20, 2018

Headphones tend to do a remarkably good job at drowning out background noise without the need of electronics. This is especially true of canal earphones which create a snug isolation seal inside the ear canal.
The Brainwavz Delta earphones do a good job at blocking out a lot of ambient noise and being discreet; hence they are a good choice for office environments, commuting to work, riding a bike or riding a motorcycle.
Because of their small footprint, the Brainwavz Delta wired earphone don't protrude from the ears so they don't fall out when putting on a helmet.
Two other features the Brainwavz Delta wired earphones have going for them are quality build and quality sound. The Delta earphones driver housing is made of solid aluminum, including the nozzle tips, making the Delta earphones very rugged and durable.
There are also thick rubber reinforcements on the headphone plug and driver housings which help relief strain from cable tugging. Speaking of cable, it is cylindrical in shape, not flat like in the S0 version.
Strain reliefs prevent premature wear too which tends to happen on all cable ends without rubber reinforcements.
The Delta earphones 1.3 meters long copper wiring is covered by a thick rubberized sleeve with a y-cable splitter and a cinch slider to adjust the cabling. The 3.5 mm TRRS connector plug is gold plated with an angled design.
In-line the cable you also find a single-button remote control with a built-in microphone on the back side. The button is responsive and has a raised imprint that makes the button tactile. The previous version of the Delta earphones had a three button remote.
Speaking of the Delta in-line remote, it is universal so it technically works with all android and iOS devices as long as they use a 3.5mm headphone socket with the TRRS standard.
Sony phones like the Xperia use a 3.5mm headphone socket without the TRRS standard; hence the Delta remote doesn't properly work on these earphones. It's a good idea checking with the manufacturer whether your particular model uses the TRRS standard
The Delta earphones nozzle body design is straight and stocky so they fit securely in the ears provided that you also use the correct size eartip for your ear canal.
Normally, with short, stocky nozzles and low volume earphones you have to push them quite far into the ear canal to get full sound but with the Delta earphones you don't have to push them in too deep because of their low 16 ohm impedance and high 100 dB volume sensitivity. You can drive the Delta earphones to high fidelity without distortion.

The bass is balanced, not overwhelming, so the 8mm dynamic drivers in the Delta earphones can handle all genres of music including electronic dance music without the bass sounding muddy.
The treble is clean and detailed and balances well with the punchy bass thanks to a reasonably wide frequency response range between 20 Hz and 20 kHz.
A few accessories are also included with the Brainwavz Delta wired earphones which is nice. These include a quality hardshell zipper case, a croc clip, a set of Comply foam ear tips and a velcro strap for tying up the cable neatly.
