QacQoc GN33A2 USB C Laptop Multimedia Adapter

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Dongles don't get as much praise as they deserve and they should as they are life savers particularly for those with new USB C laptops!
The 2016 MacBook Pro and 2016 HP Spectre Notebook are two nice looking devices with multifunctional Thunderbolt 3 ports which let you charge the laptop itself and transfer data as well as receive and output video.
Thunderbolt 3 ports are great but without USB A ports, HDMI port and an SD card reader you are not able to even sync an iPhone with the MacBook Pro without buying an additional USB-C to Lightning cable or USB-C to USB adapter.
Someone like a photographer needing constant access to memory cards to look at their camera photos will especially find a machine like the MacBook Pro very frustrating. MacBook Pro adapters aren't particularly affordable nor are they the most functional for expanding the MacBook Pro.
Luckily, there are third-party alternatives to Apple adapters that work perfectly with the MacBook Pro such as the GN30H USB-C hub and the QacQoc GN33A2 USB C multimedia adapter which integrate most ports you would ever need on a laptop machine and blend in nicely with the MacBook Pro's aluminium silver color scheme. The GN30H USB-C hub version has the SD card reader option.
You get three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one Gigabit Ethernet port and one USB C Power Delivery port for charging devices. The Power Delivery port on the QacQoc GN33A2 adapter is the latest version of USB Power Delivery 3.0 and it's extremely useful because it can charge all type of devices, not just smartphones.
pass through charging power delivery port
The USB C Power Delivery port delivers up to 49W of pass-through charging which is enough input power to charge a 13-inch MacBook Pro during normal use.
The gigabit ethernet port can handle up to 1000Mbps and lets you connect via Ethernet cable to access the full speed of a high speed network. The HDMI port supports HDMI 1.4 so it can output 4K but it's limited to 30 frames per second which is okay for watching films but not smooth enough for watching 4k sports or 4k gaming which require 60fps via HDMI 2.0.
It's also worth noting that the HDMI port on the  QacQoc GN33A2 adapter integrates Digital rights management (DRM) which is copyright protection designed to prevent illegal copying of 4K Ultra HD content by encrypting the video signal.
USB 3.0 also known as "USB 3.1 Gen 1"
Each USB 3.0 port supports data transfer up to 5Gbps per port and it's backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.
As far as compatibility, the QacQoc GN33A2 multipurpose adapter only works with USB C laptops with USB3.1 GEN 2 or Thunderbolt 3 ports such as the Macbook 2015/2016, Macbook Pro 2016/2017, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, Huawei Matebook, Chromebook and HP Spectre running on the following operating systems Windows7/8/10, Google Chrome OS, Mac OS X Yosemite, Mac OS X El Capitan and Mac OS sierra.
