These days one can pick up a quality, well made mechanical keyboard without having to spend too much!

Take for instance the EasySMX ET-8176 mechanical keyboard, which is a USB-powered keyboard with mechanical switches and a standard full size QWERTY UK layout so the £ symbol is located on the number 3 key.

In all, you get 104 keys with six RGB non-customizable leds (red, blue, orange, green, yellow and purple) that can be controlled from the keyboard itself.

You can turn the leds on and off (Fn+Scroll Lock) and control the brightness (Fn+arrow keys), as well as adjust the speed of the default breathing effect.

You also get twelve multimedia keys for controlling music and lock the keyboard (Fn+F11), as well as for launching the calculator (Fn+12), email (Fn+F9) and Internet browser (Fn+10). You can also enable and disable game mode by pressing the Fn button and the Windows button at the same time.

The EasySMX keyboard works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. It also works on mac computers though the multimedia keys aren't supported.

The EasySMX gaming keyboard comes with a detachable wrist rest with snap joints that you snap into the back of the keyboard. To remove the wrist rest, you have to use a screwdriver to unscrew the snap joint screws.
