Knives are great tools to have in the kitchen but they're also dangerous things to have laying around, especially if you have little ones in the house!

To avoid getting paranoid about your children reaching for the knives and/or cutting themselves, it makes sense to get a knife block that is child proof.

Take for instance the 5 Piece Secure Bloc by Progress, which is a lockable smart knife block with a secure lock and release mechanism with color coordinated knife handle and lock. The block housing is made of glossy finish plastic, giving the block knife a neat modern look.

The 5-piece set of knives have soft-touch rubber handles and non-stick coated blades. The handles of the knives have an elevation that turns into a tool rest for the blade which means the blade is always raised when not in use, making it a more hygienic.

Simply insert the knife in its corresponding color coded slit and push back the locking tab with your finger to allow the handle to fall through and lock the knife in place.
