Street Legal Electric Scooter Which Folds Like a Golf Bag in 2 Seconds!

Wednesday, January 06, 2016

Late last year I did an article on the evolution of chainless bikes where I mentioned the Sada hubless bike and talked about the Londoner who rode on his penny-farthing bike. Just very recently I have come across another cool and innovative bike invention that's somewhat a hybrid between an electric scooter and motorcycle. It's called the Stigo electric scooter which weighs less than 14 kg and folds up like a golf bag (measuring around 45x40 cm). Top speed for the Stigo electric scooter is 25km/h (15mph).

Stigo will be available in April/May of 2016 and I'm told you can get up to 30 km per charge. Judging by the video footage, folding the Stigo electric scooter is super fast (quite literary 2 seconds!). To control the throttle, the Stigo scooter is powered exactly just like a motorcycle's twistgrip found on the the right handle grip.

I really like the simple design and the fact that Stigo scooter's frame will be made from aluminum, though the makers are also considering making the Stigo from carbon fiber in the future for an extra-lightweight version. The Stigo has 12-inch front and back tires, a digital speedometer, a front LED light, and two small rollie-wheels to help you roll around the Stigo when folded. The battery pack is a 36V Lithium-Ion battery, which can be charged from a regular electric power outlet.

The Stigo electric scooter is classified in the category of Mopeds (L1e-B), which means is street legal.

Here it's the Stigo electric bike in action:
