Lukla AeroGel Jacket Is Insanely Comfy And Warm

Thursday, November 12, 2015

Being someone who loves the snow but not the cold nor wearing layers, I am very excited to try out the Lukla Jacket by Oros which uses the same aerogel technology used in NASA spacecraft insulation. The Lukla jacket has a similar thickness of a hardshell jacket and comes with a detachable and adjustable hood pull-cord, an adjustable waist pull-cord, velcro-adjustable wrists, waterproof zippers, pit zips, and a powder skirt which perfectly fits around my body.

One of my favorite features of the Lukla jacket (aside of the multiple pockets) is the carefully considered and planned pit zips, which open all the up into the elbow allowing you to vent off excess heat and regulate your body heat.

The oversized hood is actually large enough to fit a helmet underneath the hood, while the multiple pockets are quite useful and handy. I counted 8 pockets in total. Two inner chest pockets, one exterior chest pocket and two exterior hand pockets. Both sleeves also have pockets (one pocket on the left sleeve and two on the right sleeve).

The Verdict
The Lukla jacket has plenty of pocket space, heat sealed seams, waterproof zippers  and it's about the thickness of a hardshell jacket and without the puffiness of a down jacket (super warm and breathable). Being so thin, the Lukla jacket is certainly the answer to most climbers' prayers, and that is "warm but thin". The Lukla jacket would be perfect for trekking in the Himalayas or skiing on the slopes. Check out the Lukla Aerogel Jacket
